Did my first ride around the cape, and it turns out I'm in cycling heaven! Not just the stunning landscapes and ocean vistas, but fantastic coffee stops as well. The wind can be pretty tough in some places though.

Mad respect to this cyclist on the streets of central Dakar! The smog and dust are hard to bear, even inside a car, and the sun is burning without mercy. Rock on, mon ami! #cycling #hackerbeach

My cycling shoe strap broke for no reason. When I thought about ways to fix it, I remembered the GCN video about inner tube hacks. Certainly ugly, but brought me up the mountain and back just now.

Current Gran Canaria cycling status: doing a group ride up to the mountains early in the morning tomorrow, but I'm the sucker who has to add 17km with 250m elevation both before and after the actual ride to even get to the meeting point and home. I call it extra homework.

Just got a serious bike fit. Feels like a tailor-made new bike now. Best upgrade ever.

Uncle thinks this is where the bike belongs at night. I agree.

My current touring setup

Finally almost on the road again. Tomorrow's next leg of my Germanland cycling tour:

Anyone I know visiting the Tour de France start in DUS this weekend? I'll be in town Friday night to Sunday afternoon...

The city of Cologne is counting cyclists in various hotspots, and publishing the live data:

Had a great time cycling to OpenTechSummit and back with yesterday. Realized I should do way more social rides.

Anyone else in Berlin into cycling (fast-ish), and interested in a group ride this weekend or sometime next week?

Took the Wahoo Elemnt Bolt for a spin, and I'm pretty impressed. The turn-by-turn navigation and Strava route sync are fantastic.

Found this bike path through the country today, completely by chance.

Sunday ride through the montañas

Did a short afternoon ride today. Found the desert landscape before sunset to be quite beautiful. The headwinds on the way back were absolutely brutal however.

Cycling on Gran Canaria is just amazing. Breathtaking views pretty much all the way up and down the mountains.

Found a legit cycling café in Kuala Lumpur: The Grumpy Cyclist in KDDI. Delicious coffee roasts, and they even integrated a bicycle repair shop.

If you're interested in joining me on a 4-stage, fully serviced amateur cycling tour from Munich to Venice next September, please ping me!

Cold as f*** for cycling, but when the rain finally stops for a day, it sure is beautiful out there.

Visited the Tour of Britain's stage 7 in Bristol today and had a good bit of fun. Didn't even know there's such a thing as circuit races in road cycling, but it's certainly great for watching.
